A research tool, not advice

Tallia is a research tool. Neither the platform nor anything it produces constitutes tax, accounting, or financial advice, or any other form of regulated or professional advice, and none of it should be relied on as such. It is not a substitute for the professional skill, judgment, and expertise of the firm using it or of its staff.

We say this first because it is the single most important thing to understand about the product. Tallia is built to make a qualified professional faster and better-evidenced. It is not built to replace one, and it is not sold on that basis.

Human review is required

Our subscription terms prohibit using any output of the platform to take action - including giving tax, accounting, financial, or other regulated advice - without appropriate prior human review, consistent with good industry practice and with the legal, regulatory, and professional standards that apply to the firm.

This is a contractual obligation on every firm that licenses Tallia, not a recommendation. The product is designed around it: every answer carries the sources it relied on so that a reviewer can check the reasoning rather than take it on trust.

How the AI works

Parts of the platform are powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning systems, including large language models used to research a question and present an answer. When you ask a question, Tallia searches legislation, case law, guidance, and any documents you have supplied, then uses a language model to assemble an answer from what it found, citing each source.

Answers are generated at the moment you ask and are not reviewed by a person before they reach you. Two identical questions may produce differently worded answers.

We do not train on your data

Tallia does not use customer data to train any artificial intelligence system or model, and does not permit any third party to do so. This includes the models that power the platform’s own AI features. It is a term of our subscription agreement, not a setting or a default that can drift.

Your questions, your documents, and the answers produced from them are used to serve you and to operate the service for you. They are not used to improve a model that another firm will benefit from.

Model providers

Some AI features are powered by third-party model providers. Customer data and generated answers are shared with those providers only as far as necessary to deliver the features you use. Every such provider is listed, with its function and location, in our subprocessor list, and each is bound by contract to the no-training commitment above.

Known limits

AI systems can be misaligned, can follow an instruction imperfectly, and can generate inaccurate or unintended output - including confident statements that are simply wrong, commonly called hallucinations. Tallia reduces this risk by grounding answers in retrieved sources and citing them, but it does not eliminate it.

Practically, this means:

  • Check the citation, not just the sentence. A cited source can be real and still not support the point made.
  • An answer reflects the sources available to the platform at the time it was asked. Recent changes may not be reflected.
  • A question that omits a material fact will get an answer that omits it too.

We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any output, and we are not responsible for verifying it. That verification is the reviewing professional’s work, and the product is built to make it quick.
